Meet The Team

Alexandra Subris – Creative Director

Alex grew up surrounded by family working in the fashion industry and wanting to stand out from the crowd from a young age.  Alex began designing her own clothes using pages ripped from her sister’s fashion magazines!  Being lucky enough to get her aunt to make them up for her she could turn her fashion dreams into a reality.

As the success of her businesses grew she was able to afford both exquisite designer pieces and more outlandish tailored items using her own designs which planted the seeds of an idea that would eventually become Strictly Dresses.  When friends and family picked up on what she was doing, they asked her to do the same for them, and her passion quickly turned into a business by itself.  Realising there was a huge gap in the market for high quality evening wear which could be made more affordable by people buying directly from the manufacturers, she formed Strictly Dresses.  Alex oversees all aspects of the business from design right through to marketing and finance.  Together with her committed team of specialists they design each season’s collection using their own inspirations and interpretations of the current season’s trends.

Having previous experience in modelling she is the face of the brand and in her spare time she enjoys socialising, playing the piano and horse riding.

Pamela Greenwood – Technical Consultant

As a former Head of Textiles for over 25 years, Pamela’s passion for teaching this subject has seen hundreds of students successfully pass GCSE, O and A Levels with many of her students having their work featured as both finalists and winners in the prestigious Drapers Guild Hall. Many of Pamela’s former students have gone on to higher education and to pursue fashion careers in a wide range of fields from accessories to menswear.

Pamela’s preferred focus is in pattern cutting, technical make-up and construction of the garments. She ensures the design is functional and robust and the correct fabric is used for both drape and effect.

Alongside her teaching Pamela has completed a number of individual design and make projects such as wedding and opera dresses, notably for Cardiff Singer of the World 2005 (which was picked up in the BBC’s ‘Frockwatch’) and the winner of the Wagner Competition at Seattle Opera 2006. In her spare time Pamela enjoys anything creative, particularly gardening, cooking and pottery.
